There are three pieces making up one piece of work. I want to tell the story in the form of constructing the lie or illusion as the invisible fabric is woven on the loom.
This piece is made up of fabric swatches which are placed around text from the fairytale.
It is intended to show how the lie is construction through fear and the power of suggestion made by the weavers. Each piece is similar but not identical because it is and individual who is weaving their own illusion and constructing their own fragment of the overall lie.
The next piece is a set of three sets of clothes. this piece shows how as the lie gowns the clothes take shape in the mind's eye of each individual.
The final piece is a mixed media print of the clothes on the Emperor. It is at the exact moment when the child states that he is naked and the illusion shatters. This image is a frozen point in time when the clothes begin to disappear with everyone's realisation of the truth.
